This week I have been working closer with my on-going photo study that revolves around cautionary signage in Vancouver. These signs either call attention to or warn of a certain precaution that should be taken. It's been a difficult time photographing this series because the framework is a lot looser than for the vehicle series I'm doing. For the most part I've been taking photos of signs that catch my attention and essentially tell me to do or not to do something. "Push", "Come Inside", "Do Not Enter", "Watch Your Step", "Quiet Zone", etc. I'm not exactly sure where this series will lead me or if it will reveal anything to me about the everyday, however for the time being I have realized how difficult it is to hone in on specifics because of the absolute over abundance of visual vernaculars in Vancouver. Coming from Toronto I know the larger the city, the more saturated these signs and visual languages become. It will be interesting to document this series as it evolves to see what starts to float to the top.
